COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT
We Love Giving Back to Our Community!
We try our best to support our community that supports us. At our previous location we engaged in several successful charity events, such as two separate “ Paws For A Cause ” tattoo events to support the local SPCA . These two events alone raised nearly $4000.00 dollars. In 2018 we also sponsored as a co-host for the SPCA's 50/50 for Change Event , and had a free tattoo draw for supporters. Every April is “ Ink 4 Autism ” an international movement we have been registered with for several years, where a portion of the cost of any autism themed tattoos done at our shop during the month of April is donated to a local charity of the shop’s choice.

Rock Central will be looking for ongoing opportunities to discover which types of cooperation we can offer programs or associations that support locals from Drumheller & area. If you know of a great local organization, startup, or club that benefits our community please stop by to discuss these opportunities with our Artists.
Our Studio was a proud member of the Swift Current Chamber of Commerce, and was excited to be nominated for their SCBEX award for Small Business of the year 2018 and 2020! Rock Central is looking forward to involvement with the Drumheller Chamber of Commerce very soon! Starting in 2014 we supported the annual local Ride For Dad bike run event for prostate cancer. From 2014 -2017 and again in 2019 the Studio sponsored the Redneck Betties roller derby team, and donated to & supported several other organizations such as PRIDE week, the high school’s Safe Grad event, Canadian Mental Health Association , Teen Challenge ’s addiction support golf tournament, Rock Solid Refuge , and many more worthy organizations & events. During the 2016/17 school year our shop participated in a mentorship placement of an aspiring young artist through the local high school's Work Experience & Apprenticeship Program , to offer a realistic understanding of what life as a professional tattooist would entail if the student were to continue pursuing that career path after graduation. We are so proud of the strides she has since made in this direction, and can't wait to see how far she will push her talent to light this trade on fire! Congratulations on your new tattoo apprenticeship in BC Blythe! Throughout the '18/19 winter season we sponsored the all ages Swift Current Skateboarding Inc. club by providing & delivering stacks of free pizza for their seasonal weekly public drop-in events during the winter, to ensure anyone dropping by to support this great non-profit activity was fed!
Tattoo Organization Memberships
- Both of our tattooists are long standing members of the APT (Alliance of Professional Tattooists) , a non-profit worldwide organization dedicated to promoting and supporting further education and safety in the tattooing trade.
- Our Artists are also both members of the NTA (National Tattoo Association), founded in 1976 originally as the National Tattoo Club of the World.
- More recently in early 2019 John & Alicia are now officially one of the Founding 50 Members of the Gill "The Drill" Montie's Pirate Tattoo Association, an organization that focuses on not only advocating for the industry Gill "The Drill" has given his life to, but also insuring the preservation of the amazing history of the tattoo industry. This exciting Association, a Rebirth of the original Inkslinger's Ball, will be coming to life in Daytona Beach Florida, and WE CAN'T WAIT!

We also like to give back to our clients by way of our Badass Cards . This loyalty program in 2017 alone gave back over $5000.00 in free Badass Hours from clients cashing in their filled cards, and blew that number away in 2018 to OVER $6400.00 in free Badass Hours! Rock Central is looking forward to seeing just how Badass the Drumheller Valley will be!
In the fall of 2018, and again in 2020, we were honoured to receive a nomination from the Swift Current Chamber of Commerce for the Small Business of the Year SCBEX Business Excellence Award . We are grateful to receive a nomination like this, so thank you.

John and Alicia took great pride in having a strong relationship with the Cypress Health Authority, working together to promote safety and disease prevention in tattooing, and were grateful to have a donation made on their behalf toward The Environmental Health Foundation of Canada by The Canadian Institute of Public Heath Inspectors Saskatchewan Branch for their presentation and participation in the 2018 Annual Professional Education and Development Seminar.
